A floor heating thermostat switches the heating cable or mat beneath the floor on and off according to temperature. There are three models on this page: an analogue thermostat set with a dial, a digital touch thermostat that can be programmed by the week, and a wifi thermostat managed from a phone. All three are for domestic use, work with a floor sensor and carry a 2-year warranty.

A floor heating thermostat does two things: it measures the temperature of the floor and, from that measurement, switches the heating circuit on and off. The part that does the measuring is not the thermostat itself but the NTC floor sensor embedded in the screed. When the value the sensor reads falls below the temperature you have set, the thermostat closes the contact and the heating cable or mat is energised; when the set temperature is reached, the contact opens and the system stops. Through this switching cycle the floor is held at a steady temperature.

The target temperature is set with a dial; the system switches on and off at that value. There is no time programme. It is the most suitable floor heating thermostat model for those who want to set the temperature once and leave it. The floor sensor and installation conduit come in the box.

Digital touch thermostat

Weekly programming, the most popular

It is surface-mounted, has a touch screen and works with a floor sensor. Separate time bands are defined for the days of the week. If your hours at home are predictable, this floor heating thermostat model is the option that increases the saving most.

Wifi thermostat

Remote management from a phone

It has all the features of the digital model, adding remote management from a phone, changing the programme and monitoring consumption. For those whose time of arriving home varies, this floor heating thermostat model cuts out heating that would be wasted.

  • Your existing thermostat has failed and you will fit a new one to do the same job.
  • You want to set the temperature once and leave it — the analogue model is enough for this use.
  • Your hours at home are predictable; you want weekly programming or remote management from a phone.

  • You do not have a heating element yet. The floor heating mat or cable is chosen first, and the thermostat comes afterwards.
  • You are installing outdoor systems such as ramps, roofs or gutters, or a multi-circuit industrial installation. A domestic floor heating thermostat does not manage these; a heating control panel is required.
  • You will only be controlling a boiler or radiator installation; these products are for electric heating.

التركيب

The floor heating thermostat is mounted at a dry point inside the room; the digital touch and wifi models are designed for surface mounting. The floor sensor is placed between the runs of the mat or the heating cable, midway between two cable runs, drawn inside a flexible installation conduit. Keeping it inside conduit means the sensor can be removed and replaced later.

Important: All electrical connections must be made by a qualified technician with the power switched off. A residual current device is fitted upstream of the system. The rules for electrical installation are set out in the Regulation on Indoor Electrical Installations.

All models carry a 2-year manufacturer warranty. ISITMAX has manufactured its own electric heating products since 1995; the manufacture is CE-certified.
