The eaves heating system is a snow and ice melting solution that prevents the ice dam that forms at the edge of pitched roofs, the icicles beneath the eaves and the sudden shedding of snow. A band along the roof edge is heated; the meltwater runs safely over this band into the gutter and downpipe. The band is built with RoofMat metal mat — the cable arrives fixed at even spacing on a metal carrier at the factory — and with a control panel with a moisture sensor it runs only when there really is icing.
On a pitched roof with no eaves heating system, snow first spreads across the surface. Heat rising from inside the building, together with the sun, melts the snow in the middle of the roof from below; as the meltwater runs downwards it reaches the coldest part of the roof — the unheated eaves — and freezes again there. The ice that builds up forms a dam, and the water ponding behind it seeps under the covering.

How many centimetres should the band width be in an eaves heating system?

- Your roof covering is standing seam metal, sandwich panel, shingle, membrane or tile.
- A continuous band of between 30 and 100 cm can be applied along the roof edge.
- You are able to connect a control panel to the system — on a roof a panel is mandatory.
- You carry liability for falling ice and snow on a building open to pedestrians.

- If the problem is only icing inside the gutter and valley — Roof Gutter and Valley Heating is measured by the metre and is more economical.
- If what blocks is the downpipe — Downpipe Heating runs the cable through the inside of the pipe.
- If you are heating a ramp, courtyard or driveway — Snow and Ice Melting Under Concrete is buried beneath the concrete.
- For an outdoor staircase, landing or building entrance — Stair and Building Entrance Heating is dimensioned for that geometry.
- If you want to reduce the snow load on a flat roof — an eaves band does not solve this; a project-based survey is required.
التركيب
- PlanningThe eaves length and band width are determined and the fixing method is chosen according to the roof covering. If the gutter and downpipe are to be heated as well, the runs are planned together and connected to a single panel.
- FasteningThe mat is laid along the roof edge in one piece; it is fastened with seam clamps on standing seam metal roofs and with special clips on shingle and membrane roofs. In no method is the roof covering pierced.
- Sensor and panelThe temperature sensor is placed at a point that stays in shade and the moisture sensor on an exposed surface. A qualified electrician makes the panel connection and the supply line.
Who should install it? Working on a roof requires safety equipment and, in most cases, a cherry picker. On short, easily reached eaves an experienced electrician can carry out the work; on long runs and on tall, multi-block buildings, installation by the company is recommended — roof installation is priced separately after a survey. Applications beneath tiles require a project in every case.

A panel is mandatory with an eaves heating system; an installation without one falls outside the warranty. The reason is simple: the system needs to switch itself on while snow is falling and off when the weather clears. The length of the run and the nature of the building determine the choice of panel.

Is there a cable option in the eaves heating system?
There is not. For eaves heating ISITMAX sells only RoofMat metal mat; no separate cable option is offered for eaves. Because the cable spacing on the mat arrives set at the factory, no calculation is made on site. Cable is used inside the gutter and in the downpipe.
How many centimetres should the band be in an eaves heating system?
In a temperate region and on a steeply pitched roof, 30–40 cm is enough. The most frequently chosen width is 50 cm. In regions with a high snow load, on low-pitched roofs and with deep eaves overhangs, 60 or 100 cm is chosen; in the eastern provinces 100 cm is taken as standard.
Is the eaves heating system enough on its own?
The eaves band prevents the ice dam and the icicles at the roof edge, but the water it melts can freeze again in the gutter and the downpipe. For a complete solution it is recommended that the eaves, gutter and downpipe runs be planned together; all three are managed from a single panel.
Can I install it without buying a control panel?
A panel is mandatory in roof heating and an installation without one falls outside the warranty. The function of the panel is for the system to switch itself on while snow is falling and off when the weather clears. If you are already buying a panel for the gutter or the downpipe on the same roof, tick the "Panel to be bought separately" option on this product — a single panel manages all three runs.
How is the price of an eaves heating system worked out?
The area is the eaves length multiplied by the band width, and the price per square metre is 6,500 ₺. On a 20 metre eaves, a 50 cm band comes to 10 m² and the heater costs 65,000 ₺; the panel you choose is added on top. Prices exclude VAT.
