نظرة عامة

Snow and Ice Melting Under Concrete keeps the entire surface of an outdoor area free of snow and ice using a 350 W/m² electric heater embedded beneath the concrete. A whole ramp, a courtyard, a vehicle roadway, a car park entrance, a loading ramp or the flat area in front of a door are all sized with this product. The heater is either TMaxPro cable fixed to the reinforcement mesh or ProMat matting with the cable laid on mesh; both use the same cable, give the same output and have identical prices per square metre. You do not switch the system on and off yourself — a control panel with moisture and temperature sensors brings it in the moment it detects precipitation.

Snow and ice melting under concrete is a system that keeps the entire surface of an outdoor area free of snow and ice with an electric heater embedded in the concrete. You do not clear snow, spread salt or do anything else — the system sees the precipitation through its sensor, comes on, and switches off once the surface is dry.

لمحة سريعة

350 W/m² full-surface heatingThe whole area stays clear of snow; both vehicles and pedestrians travel on heated ground.
Embedded in concrete, an invisible systemThe heater is fixed to the reinforcement mesh and the concrete is poured over it. Nothing is visible at the surface.
Automatic control that detects precipitationIt comes on when snow falls and switches off once the surface is dry. A panel with a moisture sensor cuts running costs by up to 40%.
Ready sizing from 4 to 50 m²Larger areas are calculated project by project; our own CE-certified manufacture since 1995.

أين يُستخدم

Ekoline

Panel with temperature sensor only

Ekoline Measures the ground temperature and runs the system below a set threshold. It does not detect precipitation. It is sufficient on small areas and for users who deliberately manage the system by hand.

Proline

ISITMAX panel with moisture + temperature sensors

Proline Evaluates precipitation and temperature together: it runs only while snow is falling and the surface is wet. Sensor-driven control cuts energy costs by up to 40%. This is the right tier for most full-area installations.

Maxline

Eberle panel with moisture + temperature sensors

Maxline Uses the same sensing logic as Proline, but with industrial-grade equipment. It is the choice for high connected loads, multi-zone control, commercial sites that must run without interruption, and areas over 30 m².

دليل الاختيار

Why 350 W/m² for snow and ice melting under concrete?

ConditionWhy the required output rises
Suspended slabs, bridges and rooftop car parks with open soffitsHeat escapes in two directions; the underside is also exposed to cold air
Altitudes above 1,000 metresLower air temperatures and higher snow loads
Exposed areas with sustained winds above 6 m/sConvective loss from the surface increases
Regions where the design temperature falls below −15 °CThe heat flux required for melting rises
Slabs with no sub-base insulation at allClose to 20% of the heat produced goes downwards

هل هذا المنتج مناسب لك؟

مناسب عندما

  • You want to keep the entire outdoor area clear of snow: a whole ramp, a courtyard, a vehicle roadway, a car park entrance or the flat area in front of a door.
  • The slab is being newly poured or the concrete is being replaced — the heater is embedded beneath the concrete and cannot be applied over an existing surface.
  • The area carries both vehicles and pedestrians, or the wheel tracks are not fixed.
  • Your heated area is between 4 and 50 m²; for larger areas you want a project calculation.
  • The surface has a fall of around 2% and a drainage channel, or these will be provided.

غير مناسب عندما

  • You only need to heat the wheel tracks — Ramp Wheel Track Heating delivers the same effect at a far lower connected load.
  • You are heating stairs, steps or a landing — Stair and Building Entrance Heating is sized for that geometry.
  • For roofs, gutters, valleys or downpipes — roof and gutter snow melting is a separate product.
  • You do not want to break up the existing concrete — this system cannot be added to a surface afterwards.
  • You are heating the floor of an enclosed space — 350 W/m² is far too high for indoors; look at the room products in the floor heating family.

التركيب

  1. PreparationThe sub-base is compacted and levelled, the insulation is laid and the reinforcement mesh positioned. Areas that will not be heated — fixed plinths, edge strips, any enclosed section — are marked out. The position of the drainage channel and the surface falls are confirmed. The panel location and cold-lead route are decided at the outset.
  2. LayingMatting rolls are unrolled across the area, cutting only the mesh at turns; if cable has been chosen it is seated in the fixing strip lugs and run at the calculated spacing. The heater is tied to the mesh with plastic clips at 0.9 – 1.2 metre intervals. Runs must not cross and must stay at least 15 cm from the edge. The sensor conduit is placed between two runs.
  3. Connection, testing and pouringThe cold leads are routed through conduit to the panel location; the electrician makes the connection, the supply is taken through a 30 mA residual current device and the earth screen is bonded to the busbar. A resistance test is carried out before the concrete is poured and the result recorded in writing. Once the test is passed, the concrete is poured and screeded. The system is brought into service gradually after the concrete has cured for 28 – 30 days.
The vibrator is the heater's enemy. During the pour, the vibrator head must never be brought into direct contact with the heater; keep clear of the runs. Clip fixing holds the cable in place but does not protect it from impact.

الأسئلة الشائعة

Can it be applied over existing concrete?
No. The heater is embedded 6 – 8 cm below the surface; this is an under-concrete system. If the slab is not being renewed, the existing concrete has to be broken out and re-poured. If you have no plans to renew the slab, wheel track heating cannot be installed either, for the same reason.
Is sub-base insulation essential?
It is not mandatory, but without it roughly a fifth of the heat produced goes downwards — the system runs longer and you pay extra every season. For snow melting we recommend at least R-10 (about 5 cm of extruded polystyrene). On a suspended slab with an open soffit, insulation is not a recommendation but a requirement.
My area is larger than 50 m² — what should I do?
We calculate these project by project. Above 50 m² the connected load exceeds 17,500 W; the supply circuit, three-phase panel, phase balancing and, where needed, zoned control are sized separately. Send your sketch via WhatsApp or to info@isitmax.com; the cable length and load calculation are free of charge.
Will the connected load exceed my domestic supply?
It may. Over 30 m² the connected load is 10,500 W, and at 50 m² it is 17,500 W. Check your existing supply capacity before ordering; if an upgrade is needed, the application must be made before installation, because this is the longest step in the electrical work.
Do I have to operate the system myself?
With Proline and Maxline panels, no: the moisture sensor detects precipitation and the ground sensor the temperature, and when both conditions are met the system comes on by itself and switches off after a 30 – 120 minute run-on once the surface is dry. Ekoline looks only at temperature, so it also runs on cold days without snow.
