نظرة عامة

Bathroom floor heating warms a ceramic or tiled bathroom floor with a 180 W/m² electric heater embedded in the screed. It serves two purposes: ending the problem of stepping onto cold tiles, and keeping the bathroom comfortable without a radiator. The floor temperature is set between 22 and 25 °C at the thermostat, and the floor sensor holds that value. The heater is either loose-laid TMax cable or EasyMat matting supplied ready-fixed on mesh; the cable inside both is the same, gives the same output and sells at the same price. The product is prepared for heated areas between 2 and 12 m².

The underlay is an insulating layer laid beneath the bathroom floor heating element to stop heat escaping to the floor below. It is not mandatory, but we strongly recommend it: on a floor without underlay, part of the heat produced goes downwards and you pay for it. With underlay the heat is directed upwards; the system reaches its target temperature roughly 30% faster and delivers 30–40% energy savings.

أين يُستخدم

TMax cable + fixing strip

Loose-laid, reaches every corner

TMax cable + fixing strip The cable clips into plastic fixing strip secured to the floor and is laid at roughly 10 cm spacing. Direction changes freely around columns, pipework and narrow passages, turning down to a 30 mm bending radius. It is the right choice for L-shaped bathrooms, small areas and irregular floors. The fixing strip is included in the price per square metre.

EasyMat ready-made matting

Unroll, fix down, laying finished

EasyMat ready-made matting The cables are factory-fixed to a mesh at the correct spacing; you simply unroll it and stick it to the floor, so spacing errors cannot occur. On plain rectangular areas, laying is finished in minutes. To change direction cut the mesh only, never the cable.

هل هذا المنتج مناسب لك؟

مناسب عندما

  • Your bathroom floor will be finished with ceramic, tile, porcelain, marble or natural stone.
  • Your heated area is between 2 and 12 m².
  • You are building new or renovating; at least 3 cm of screed can be poured under the tiles and you have room for a build-up of about 3 cm.
  • You want to solve the cold-tile problem and heat the bathroom without a radiator.
  • You are looking for a system that works without touching the boiler or water pipework; your supply has a 30 mA residual current device, or you can have one fitted.

غير مناسب عندما

  • The floor will be finished with parquet or laminate. Cable and matting are embedded in screed, not under parquet. Carbon heating film, which is thin and laid without screed, is used for that; laminate held above 25 °C for long periods can swell and delaminate.
  • You will use your bathroom as a hammam. The navel stone, seating area and backrest area cannot be heated at 180 W/m²; they need 240 W/m². Choose the hammam floor heating product for that.
  • You are heating a kitchen. In kitchens and living areas 150 W/m² is sufficient; kitchen floor heating is prepared to that rating.
  • Your heated area is over 12 m². This product runs up to 12 m² on a single thermostat; above that a second thermostat and a two-zone installation are required.
  • You do not want to lift the existing tiles. The system is embedded beneath the tiles and cannot be laid over them.

التركيب

  1. PreparationThe floor is cleaned; it must be sound and dry. If you are using insulation underlay, it is laid at this stage. If you have chosen cable, the fixing strips are secured to the floor; with matting this step does not apply.
  2. Laying the heaterTMax cable is laid between the fixing strips at roughly 10 cm spacing; it is routed freely around corners and pipework, never going below the 30 mm bending radius even on the tightest turn. With matting the roll is unrolled and stuck down; to change direction cut the mesh only, never the cable. The floor sensor is placed inside its conduit exactly midway between two runs.
  3. Electrical connection and screedThe thermostat and floor sensor must be connected by a qualified electrician. A resistance test is carried out before the screed is poured. Once the test is passed, at least 3 cm of screed is laid and finished with tiles; together these raise the floor by about 3 cm.
Electrical safety — three non-negotiable rules. One: the system must always be run from a circuit protected by a 30 mA residual current device (RCD); in a wet room this is not optional. Two: a resistance test is carried out before the screed is poured; if the reading is outside the expected range the system must never be covered, because after screeding a fault can only be found by breaking up the floor. Three: the thermostat and sensor connection is made by a qualified electrician — even if you lay the heater yourself, do not do this step yourself. The IP67 rating of the heater is no substitute for a correct connection.

الأسئلة الشائعة

Should I buy cable or matting for bathroom floor heating?
If your bathroom is a plain rectangle choose EasyMat matting; if it is irregular or has corners choose TMax cable. The cable inside both is the same, both give 180 W/m², and the prices are identical; the only difference is in laying. Matting comes ready-fixed on mesh and is down in minutes, while cable clips into fixing strip and reaches every corner. If you are unsure, choose the cable — it works with any floor plan.
How many m² should I order — do I measure the whole bathroom?
Measure the open floor you actually walk on, not the total area. Under cabinets, the bath, the shower tray and under the washing machine are excluded; the doorway, the area in front of the shower, the whole of a level-access shower, and the areas in front of the WC and basin are included. Example: in an 8 m² bathroom, 1.5 m² under the cabinet and 1.5 m² for the bath are deducted, and the remaining 5 m² is ordered.
How much electricity does bathroom floor heating use?
In a 5 m² bathroom, 180 W/m² gives a connected load of 900 W; running 6 hours a day, monthly consumption is roughly 162 kWh. Multiply this figure by the unit rate on your bill for the cost. This is an upper bound: once the thermostat reaches the target temperature it switches the system off, so it does not run for 6 hours continuously. With underlay and a programmable thermostat, consumption drops noticeably.
Can I install bathroom floor heating myself?
The laying, yes; the electrical connection, no. You can lay the underlay, fix the strips and install the cable or matting yourself using the illustrated manual supplied in the box. The thermostat, floor sensor and fuse connections, however, must be made by a qualified electrician; an electrician will complete the whole installation in half a day. Installation can also be purchased as a service.
If bathroom floor heating fails, does the screed have to be broken up?
The great majority of faults are outside the screed: the thermostat is on the wall and is solved by a simple replacement. The heater inside the screed works in a protected environment and is covered by a 20-year warranty. This is why a resistance test is carried out before screeding; if there is a problem with the laying, it shows up before the screed goes down. A system that fails the test must never be covered.
