A cold store floor heating mat is an electrical floor protection system laid beneath concrete that prevents the ground under the floor of a store running at −30 °C to −40 °C from freezing and that freezing from lifting the slab. TMax cable is used as the heater; the mat is that cable arranged at the correct spacing on a carrier at the factory. An average of 4 metres of cable goes into each 1 m², and an Ekoline control unit is included with the system. The mat is made 50 cm or 100 cm wide, with the length specific to the project; at least 5 cm of fine, aggregate-free concrete or screed is poured over it.
The EasyMat mat is TMax heating cable arranged at the correct spacing on a carrier at the factory. The cable itself does not change — what changes is how it arrives on site. In free cable form you set the laying spacing on site; on the mat that spacing is fixed at the factory. This is where the real value of the cold store floor heating mat lies: the roll is unrolled and laid side by side, the laying time is markedly shorter and the margin for error on site is lower.

Mat 50 cm wide 50 cm wide, with the length specific to the project. It turns more easily in narrow corridors and small compartments; this width is also used to cover the narrow strips at the edge of an area.
Mat 100 cm wide
For wide areas and quick installation
Mat 100 cm wide 100 cm wide, with the length specific to the project. It covers the same area with fewer rolls, so it leaves fewer joints and the laying finishes faster.

مناسب عندما
- You are building or renewing a cold store, ice house or ice rink and want to prevent the ground beneath the floor from freezing and damaging the foundation.
- The area to be heated is regular and wide — the mat roll is unrolled and laid side by side, and the laying time is markedly shorter.
- You want the laying spacing to be fixed at the factory, so the margin for error on site is low.
- You are able to pour at least 5 cm of fine, aggregate-free concrete or screed over the mat.
- You operate a critical store (pharmaceuticals, vaccines, high-value food) and are considering the redundant system option.
غير مناسب عندما
- If your area is irregularly shaped, narrow or angular — the mat has to be cut frequently; the Cold Store Floor Heating Cable, the free form of the same cable, lets you adjust the laying spacing on site.
- If you do not want to break up the existing concrete — the mat goes beneath the floor; it cannot be added to the surface afterwards.
- If the sprinkler line inside the store is freezing — Fire Sprinkler Line Frost Protection is a separate system mounted on the pipe.
- If you are melting snow and ice outdoors — store floor protection works for frost protection and does not melt snow; for ramps and courtyards, Snow and Ice Melting Under Concrete is the right product.
- If you have to pour concrete containing crushed stone — the mat needs fine, flowing, aggregate-free concrete over it; if that is not possible, choose the cable system.
التركيب
Installing a cold store floor heating mat runs hand in hand with the floor construction, and there is no going back once the concrete is poured. Your own team can do the laying; the connection to the panel and the supply line must be left to a qualified electrician.
Do not skip the final check before the concrete is poured. Once the mat is in the concrete, the only way to put something right is to break up the slab. When the laying is complete, check that the runs do not overlap, that cuts in the carrier have not damaged the cable, and that the sensor conduit is in place.

Why is there a consumables charge?
The 15 per cent consumables charge covers the labour of assembling the cables onto the mat at the factory and the carrier material. There is no such item in free cable form; it is the cost of the production labour that the mat form brings with it.
Can the mats be cut?
The carrier can be cut but the cable cannot. This is why the mat is made to a size specific to the project. At turns only the carrier mesh is cut, and the cable continues without a break.
What should the minimum concrete thickness be?
At least 5 cm of fine, aggregate-free concrete or screed must be poured over the mat. Concrete containing crushed stone is not used; coarse aggregate puts mechanical strain on the mat's carrier and on the cable.
Can it be used on ice rinks?
The same logic applies in ice houses and ice skating rinks: the aim is not to heat the surface but to hold the ground beneath the slab above freezing point. We handle applications of this kind as projects.
How much cable is needed per 1 m²?
In the standard layout an average of 4 metres of TMax cable goes into 1 m². In a redundant system an average of 8 metres of cable is laid over the same area, in two independent runs.
