Überblick

The IBC tank heating jacket is an industrial heating jacket that wraps a 1,000 litre caged IBC tank on all four sides, heats it evenly at a low surface loading and holds the temperature with a digital control unit. Its purpose is to bring raw material to a pumpable viscosity or to stop it freezing in the cold. The jacket is a single 4,400 × 1,000 mm piece, secured with strapping and a steel buckle, and can be removed and fitted to the next tank. There are three power ratings — 1,600 W, 2,400 W and 3,200 W — and the choice is determined by the job you are doing, not by the tank volume.

Einsatzbereiche

P1600 — 1.600 W

Frost protection and low temperature

For holding a tank stored over winter above its critical temperature and preventing the raw material freezing. Intended for protection rather than heating; it draws at most 1.6 kWh per hour.

P2400 — 2.400 W

Mid-range heating, viscous liquids

For raw materials that thicken in the cold, such as honey, vegetable and mineral oils, molasses and resin; this is the most frequently chosen rating. The theoretical time to raise 1,000 litres of water-based contents by 30 °C is 14.5 hours.

P3200 — 3.200 W

Process heating, fast warm-up

For production that needs a high target temperature and short cycles; it completes the same 30 °C rise in a theoretical 10.9 hours.

IndustryTypical application
Chemicals and petrochemicalsMaintaining flowability in resins, adhesives, solvents and chemical raw materials
FoodKeeping honey, glucose, syrup and vegetable oil liquid; heating molasses to 40 °C
Pharmaceuticals and cosmeticsHolding production liquids at a constant temperature, processing SLES paste at 25–35 °C
ConstructionPreventing concrete admixtures thickening in the cold, bitumen emulsion
LubricantsKeeping oil stored in an IBC tank pumpable through the winter

Ist dies das richtige Produkt?

Passend, wenn

  • You are using a 1,000 litre caged IBC tank.
  • Your raw material thickens or freezes in the cold and has to become flowable before pumping.
  • You process honey, glucose, syrup, vegetable and mineral oils, resin, adhesive, solvent, molasses, bitumen emulsion or concrete admixture.
  • Your target temperature is below the model's limit and you want to monitor the temperature on a display.
  • Your tanks change and you want to remove the jacket and fit it to the next one.

Nicht geeignet, wenn

  • Your container is a 200 or 220 litre drum — the jacket is cut to 4,400 × 1,000 mm for 1,000 L IBC geometry and will not wrap a drum; the drum heating jacket is a separate product.
  • Your container is an uncaged, all-plastic tank or a plastic drum — the jacket is not applied directly to a plastic surface.
  • Your target is above 60 °C and your container is HDPE — the container will not withstand it; the material must be transferred to a steel container or an oven used.
  • Your tank is fixed in place and will run continuously — a permanent installation is more economical; see the industrial tank heat tracing solutions for fixed steel tanks and process equipment.
  • You are heating a bucket, canister or cylindrical gas cylinder — a jacket of this size is of no use; bucket and canister heating jackets are made for those geometries.

Installation

Yes — the jacket needs no tools; it is wrapped around the tank, the straps are fed through the steel buckle and fastened with the hook-and-loop closure. Make sure the surface sits against the tank wall and cage at every point; any air gap reduces heat transfer. Then set the control unit to the target temperature and plug the lead into a 230 V circuit with residual current protection. The red LED shows it is ready to run; the current and target temperatures are shown together on the display, and once the target is reached the unit cycles at that point.

Häufige Fragen

Can the industrial IBC tank heating jacket be used on a plastic IBC tank?
No, this jacket is designed for caged IBC tanks; direct use on uncaged plastic-bodied tanks and plastic drums is not advised. The reason is the limit of the container material: for HDPE drums and IBC tanks the manufacturer's maximum fill temperature is 60 °C and continuous operating temperature 49 °C; above that the container softens.
Which rating should I choose — 1,600, 2,400 or 3,200 W?
The choice is determined by the job, not the tank volume; the jacket is 4,400 × 1,000 mm in all three models. Choose 1,600 W if you only need to prevent freezing, 2,400 W to make viscous liquids such as honey and oil flowable, and 3,200 W to reach process temperature quickly. With raw materials such as palm oil, where the rate of heating must be limited, a lower rating is chosen deliberately.
How long does a 1,000 litre tank take to heat?
Raising 1,000 litres of water-based contents by 30 °C requires 34.8 kWh; theoretically this is delivered in 10.9 hours by the 3,200 W jacket, 14.5 hours by the 2,400 W and 21.8 hours by the 1,600 W. Oil-based contents heat in roughly half the time. These are theoretical minimums — ambient temperature and loss through the top cover extend them, which is why IBC applications are usually run overnight.
Do I also need to buy a thermostat or control panel?
No, the digital control unit comes integrated into the jacket and is adjustable from 0 to 120 °C, with current and target temperature shown together on the display. A separate heating control panel is only needed if you want to manage several jackets from one point or connect them to a control system.
Should I set the thermostat to the temperature of my raw material?
Not directly. The sensor reads the temperature between the jacket surface and the tank wall, not that of the raw material; the two are never identical, and the correct setting is established by trial over the first few runs. For sensitive processes, fit an immersion sensor in the contents. Watch the upper limit as well as the target — honey degrades above 75 °C and molasses above 60 °C.
