Überblick

Under-parquet floor heating carbon heating film is an electric heating element with a power density of 200 W/m² and a thickness of under 1 mm, laid beneath laminate parquet and vinyl floor coverings without any screed. ISITMAX FilmMax carbon films are made by placing thin carbon strips between two layers of polymer film; they arrive cut to the dimensions of your room, with all electrical connections made and tested at the factory. The floor temperature is held between 22 and 25 °C by the digital thermostat included in the package, so the problem of stepping onto a cold floor disappears. It is the most practical way of achieving under-parquet floor heating in renovation projects where screed is not possible and in rooms covered with laminate parquet; the product is prepared between 2 and 24 m², in steps of one square metre.

The carbon heating film used for under-parquet floor heating is a flat, flexible heating element made by placing thin carbon strips between two layers of polymer film. When power is applied, the carbon strips heat up and spread the heat upwards from a wide surface — that is, towards the floor covering. What sets it apart from the other members of the electric heating family is its shape: because the heater is a sheet rather than a strand, the heat does not come from points but from the whole surface.

Einsatzbereiche

FilmMax carbon heating film

No screed, thin, fast

Laid directly beneath the parquet, it stays under 1 mm and creates no change in level. It delivers 200 W/m² and is prepared in 50 / 80 / 100 cm widths. It is the only practical solution in renovation and in areas where screed cannot be laid. The operating warranty is 2 years.

TMax cable / EasyMat mat

Beneath screed, with any covering

Laid beneath a minimum of 3 cm of screed; ideal for ceramic, marble and natural stone. It is prepared in 150 / 180 / 200 / 240 W/m² steps according to the space. Because it works protected inside the screed, a 20-year SafeMax warranty is given on the heating element.

Ist dies das richtige Produkt?

Passend, wenn

  • Your floor will be laid with laminate parquet, vinyl or LVT and the covering will go down as a floating (click / interlocking) system.
  • You have no way of laying screed, or you are renovating without disturbing the existing floor; because the film stays under 1 mm, it does not change the gap under the door or the threshold level.
  • You would rather not deal with cutting and wiring — the films arrive cut to your dimensions, connected and tested.
  • You want a system that warms quickly: with no screed, the temperature is felt at the floor surface within 10–15 minutes.
  • With the areas under furniture deducted, your heated area comes out between 2 and 24 m².

Nicht geeignet, wenn

  • If your covering is ceramic, tile, marble or natural stone — carbon film is not laid beneath these coverings. The TMax cable or EasyMat mat system, which goes beneath screed, is used instead.
  • If you are heating a wet room — a bathroom calls for one step higher: bathroom floor heating is dimensioned at 180 W/m² beneath ceramic.
  • If you can lay screed in the kitchen, a room or the living room — kitchen floor heating and room and living room floor heating are at the 150 W/m² step and carry a 20-year warranty on the heating element.
  • If carpet, fitted carpet or solid parquet fixed with nails and screws will go on the floor — a woven layer is a thermal resistance, and no nails or screws may be driven into the film.
  • If a long warranty or unconditional returns are a requirement — FilmMax carries a 2-year operating warranty and, because it is cut to measure, is not covered by the 30-day unconditional return; in systems laid beneath screed the heating element is guaranteed for 20 years.

Installation

  1. PreparationThe floor is cleaned and levelled; it must be dry and even. The reflective insulation mat included in the package is laid on the floor. This mat directs the heat upwards and saves energy. At the same step, the areas that will not be heated — wardrobe, bookcase, fitted cupboard, the area in front of the fireplace — are marked out, and the film is started 5–10 cm in from the wall edges.
  2. Laying the filmThe carbon film is laid over the insulation and fixed with tape. Because the films arrive cut to size with their connections already made, you do not need to carry out any cutting or wiring. The floor sensor is placed on top of the film, at a point representative of the temperature.
  3. Electrical connection and parquetThe thermostat and floor sensor must be connected by a qualified electrician. The laminate parquet or vinyl flooring then goes straight down on top; there is no waiting period and no screed to dry.
Three critical rules. One: no nails or screws may be driven into the carbon films. Two: the parquet must be laid as a floating system (click / interlocking). Three: the system must always be run under the protection of a 30 mA residual current device (RCD).

Häufige Fragen

How much electricity does carbon film use?
In a 10 m² room with 200 W/m² carbon film the total power is 2,000 W. Running an average of 6 hours a day, monthly consumption comes to roughly 360 kWh. To find the monthly cost, multiply this figure by the unit price on your bill. With thermostat scheduling, actual consumption stays below this figure.
Should I choose carbon film or a cable or mat system?
If your floor covering is laminate parquet or vinyl and you have no way of laying screed, FilmMax carbon film is the right choice. If your covering is ceramic, marble or natural stone, or if you can lay screed, the longer-lasting TMax cable or EasyMat mat system is recommended.
Do I need to cut the product or make its connections myself?
No. ISITMAX cuts every carbon film to your dimensions, makes the electrical connections at the factory and tests them before dispatch. All you need to do is lay the film on the floor and fix it with tape. This is critical to the product working properly and lasting.
Can I use it over a ceramic floor?
No, carbon film is not laid beneath ceramic. For a ceramic covering, the TMax cable or EasyMat mat system laid beneath screed must be used. FilmMax is compatible only with laminate parquet and vinyl floor coverings.
Is carbon film safe?
Yes. FilmMax carbon films are made between two layers of polymer insulation. The system must always be run under the protection of a residual current device (30 mA RCD). No nails or screws may be driven into it — the parquet must be a floating system (click / interlocking).
