Überblick

Fibreglass fixing tape is a high-temperature consumable that holds a heating cable at even spacing and stops it moving on the surface it is laid on. The tape is stuck to the surface and the cable is passed through the openings in the tape, which grip it; the spacing of the run stays intact until the screed is poured. It is used to fix cable under screed in floor heating, and to pipe and tank surfaces in industrial applications. It is sold in 50 metre rolls; the price shown above is for one roll and excludes VAT.

Fibreglass fixing tape is a woven glass fibre strip with an adhesive face and open mesh. The openings are there for the cable to pass through: you seat the cable in an opening and the tape locks it at that point. Because the material is glass fibre it does not burn, does not rust and does not rot when buried in screed; the technical detail can be found in the Wikipedia article on glass fibre.

Auf einen Blick

Cable spacing stays intactNothing shifts while the screed is poured, so no hot and cold strips form in the floor.
No drilling into the floorIt is fixed by adhesion; you do not have to screw into the insulation board.
Rated to 300 °CHigh-temperature fibreglass; also used in pipe and tank heating.
50 metre rollCE-certified manufacture, 2-year warranty. Support Monday–Saturday 09:00–17:00.

Ist dies das richtige Produkt?

Passend, wenn

  • You are laying loose-laid floor heating cable from a roll under screed.
  • You are laying onto insulation board or underlay and do not want to drill into it.
  • You are applying a thin screed and do not want to raise the floor level.
  • You are working in a narrow, curved or irregularly shaped area.
  • You need to fix cable to a pipe, tank or outdoor surface.

Nicht geeignet, wenn

  • If you are using floor heating matting, no tape is needed. On matting the cable is factory-stitched to the mesh at fixed spacing, so the spacing is already locked; you simply unroll it and lay it. Do not add tape to your basket — it would be money wasted.
  • You want to grip the cable mechanically and drilling the floor is not a problem — on a wide, flat area a metal fixing strip is quicker.
  • The surface is dusty, oily or damp — it will not stick.
  • What you are looking for is under-floor insulation — tape does not reduce heat loss; the technical thermal and acoustic underlay for use beneath screed exists for that.

Installation

Yes — no tradesman is needed to fit fibreglass fixing tape, and no electrical knowledge either; it is done by hand with a pair of scissors. Only the electrical connection of the cable must be made by a qualified technician.

Warning: Testing before screeding is the only practical way to find the cause if something goes wrong — do not skip it. Cable that crosses over itself will overheat at that point.

Häufige Fragen

How many metres are in a roll, and what unit is the price based on?
A roll is 50 metres and the listed price is for one roll — it is not sold by the metre. Work out the number of rolls by dividing the total length of your strips by 50 and rounding up: a calculation giving 80 metres needs 2 rolls.
How many square metres does one roll cover?
Laying the strips at 50 cm spacing uses 2 metres of tape per square metre, so one roll covers roughly 25 m². At 60 cm spacing it is 1.67 metres per square metre and one roll covers about 30 m². The wider apart the strips, the less the cable is gripped.
Do the prices include VAT?
No, the price on this page excludes VAT and is for one roll. For project quantities, write to us on WhatsApp or at info@isitmax.com.
Is tape needed with floor heating matting as well?
No, it is not needed. On matting the cable comes factory-stitched to the mesh at fixed spacing; you simply unroll it and lay it. Fibreglass fixing tape is only for installations where cable is unwound from a roll and loose-laid.
Can I stick it onto insulation board or underlay?
Yes, that is its most common use. Because it works by adhesion you can work without piercing the insulation layer; no screws or plugs are needed. The surface must be dry and free of dust.
